{"id":1132,"date":"2018-11-29T00:08:13","date_gmt":"2018-11-29T05:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/?p=1132"},"modified":"2018-11-29T00:08:13","modified_gmt":"2018-11-29T05:08:13","slug":"the-truman-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/?p=1132","title":{"rendered":"The Truman Show!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michigan State University Comics Forum is pleased to welcome Truman Smith as social media intern!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1137 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/TrumanSergio.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"531\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A senior from Holt, Michigan, Truman is a graphic design major who will support the Comics Forum and its social channels for the 2019 event held on February 22 and 23.<\/p>\n<p>Truman became aware of the internship position through his involvement in MSU Comics Studio courses \u201cFundamentals of Comic Art and Graphic Novels\u201d and \u201cAdvanced Comic Art and Graphic Novels.\u201d Upon learning about the internship, Truman leapt at the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to gain more professional social media experience, and conduct deeper research on comic creators and scholars,\u201d said Truman.<\/p>\n<p>Truman\u2019s interest in comics stems from the medium\u2019s ability to realize any idea, and is hard at work creating his own comic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spent the last year and half writing more than 400 pages of a comic script, and I\u2019m going to start drawing it next year,\u201d said Truman. \u201cThank heavens it\u2019s finally time for the fun part.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of his comic creativity, Truman also created some original art inspired by the MSU Comics Forum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1134 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pillars-1024x344.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"577\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pillars-1024x344.png 1024w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pillars-300x101.png 300w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pillars-768x258.png 768w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pillars-1536x516.png 1536w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/pillars-2048x688.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 577px) 100vw, 577px\" \/>\u00a0\u201cI have become far more considerate of viewing comics through an academic lens since becoming affiliated with the MSU Comics Forum,\u201d said Truman.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1135 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sparty.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sparty.png 804w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sparty-298x300.png 298w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sparty-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sparty-768x774.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Through his MSU education, Truman has come to admire creators Meredith Gran, Gary Larson, KC Green, and Bryan Lee O\u2019Malley. \u201cI cannot wait for O\u2019Malley\u2019s Worst World!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Please join the MSU Comics Forum in welcoming Truman!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michigan State University Comics Forum is pleased to welcome Truman Smith as social media intern!
