{"id":584,"date":"2012-11-30T11:01:51","date_gmt":"2012-11-30T16:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.comicsforum.msu.edu\/?p=409"},"modified":"2012-11-30T11:01:51","modified_gmt":"2012-11-30T16:01:51","slug":"2013-msu-comics-forum-dates-keynote-speaker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comicsforum.msu.edu\/?p=584","title":{"rendered":"2013 MSU Comics Forum Dates &#038; Keynote Speaker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2013 MSU\u00a0Comics Forum will take place on the first weekend of <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">March.<\/span> As usual, the keynote address will occur on the first   evening, <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\"><span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\"><span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">Friday,<\/span> March 1st, 2013,<\/span><\/span> while the panel discussions and artist   alley will happen the following day, <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">Saturday, March <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">2nd<\/span>, 2013.<\/span> The   location will be in Snyder\/Phillips Hall on the campus of  Michigan State   University (the same locations as the past few years).<\/p>\n<p>Now for the exciting news!\u00a0 <span>This year the MSU Comics Forum is proud to  announce that Nick Bertozzi, award-winning comics creator and professor  will be our guest of honor and keynote <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">speaker on <span class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-date\">Friday,<\/span> March 1st, 2013.<\/span> Bertozzi received a Xeric Grant and multiple Harvey Awards and Ignatz  Awards for his cartooning. He is the writer and artist of the graphic  novel <em>Lewis &amp; Clark<\/em> (First\/Second). \u00a0He collaborated with Jason Lutes on the graphic novel <em>Houdini: The Handcuff King<\/em> (Hyperion\/CCS) and drew Glenn (The Colbert Report\/Daria) Eichler&#8217;s <em>STUFFED!<\/em> (First\/Second). \u00a0Bertozzi is author of <em>The Salon<\/em> (St. Martin&#8217;s Griffin) a graphic novel about Picasso, the discovery of  Cubism, and magical absinthe. He is hard at work on a cartoon biography  of Lenny Bruce for Houghton-Mifflin, written by Harvey Pekar and you can  read his ongoing sci-fi\/fantasy cartoon, <em>Persimmon Cup<\/em>, for free every week at ACT-I-VATE (<\/span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/activatecomix.com\/\"><\/a><a class=\"__postbox-detected-content __postbox-detected-link\" href=\"http:\/\/activatecomix.com\">http:\/\/activatecomix.com<\/a><\/span><span>).
